The Towton Trail has now been in place for over five years and it has become an important national heritage and community asset . Recent estimates indicate that over 16,000 people use the access, the paths and view the boards each year and the pathway has become a significant tourist attraction in the area.
As we all know, Towton is an exposed location which is open to all types of weather so our boards have served us well. They are supposed to be serviced every 5-6 years so the TBS have just paid for all of them to them to be cleaned up, re-stained, running repairs made and future proofed for the 80,000 + people who will visit them over the next five years. We see the £800 spent as a great heritage investment.
