ATTENTION – the June meeting has been moved to Monday 11th June to accomodate the Diamond Jubilee Bank Holiday.
All meetings are held at Saxton Village Hall beginning at 19.30 unless otherwise stated.

Sunday 4th Mar- Tour of Marston Moor Battlefield. Meeting at 10.00 –
David Cooke, military historian and writer, leads the walk.
Monday 5th Mar – The Battle of Flodden 1513 – A presentation about this important
Battle and the innovative approach to Battlefield interpretation by
Clive Hallam-Baker.
Saturday 24th Mar – Members Walk – Meet at the Rockingham Arms at 10.30.
Sunday 1st Apr – Towton Memorial Event – An Event to commemorate the battle.

Monday 14th May – Richard III’s Reign – State and Politics 1483 – 1485

Monday 11th June – The Battle of Hexham – Popular writer and historian John Sadler
discusses this key Wars of the Roses Battle.
Monday 2nd July – Knights Templar and Yorkshire – Diane Holloway.
Wed 1st Aug – Medieval Yorkshire Evening – Crooked Billet Inn at 19.00. Fun for all the
family.
Monday 6th Aug – The Power & Effectiveness of the English Longbow – Mark Stretton, a
recognised national expert and world record holding longbow archer.
Talk may be followed by a demonstration at the Crooked Billet, time
and weather permitting.
Monday 3rd Sept – Towton Battlefield Update – Tim Sutherland gives an update on the
latest archaeological perspectives from the Battlefield.
Sat 15th Sept – Trip to Lincoln – A guided tour of this historic city.
Monday 1st Oct – Medieval Gardens – Simon Tomson.
Monday 5th Nov – The English Longbow – Pip Bickerstaffe, one of England’s leading
Bowyers.
Monday 3rd Dec – Medieval Christmas Feast – A traditional seasonal celebration
with festive food, wine, music, costume and entertainment.
