PALMSUNDAY ARCHERS – 2013 Programme

The PalmSunday Archers

The PalmSunday Archers are an enthusiastic group who meet once a month at the
Crooked Billet public house (full address – Wakefield Road, Saxton, Tadcaster,
West Yorkshire, LS24 9QN Telephone: (01937) 557389). We are part of the Towton
Battlefield Society, and our aim is to preserve the skills and craft of the traditional longbow, a weapon that has helped forge English history.
You do not have to be a member to attend. Just turn up and our experienced archers will be on hand to coach beginners in a safe environment. That way you can determine whether archery is for you. All ages are welcome. We have specially adapted bows for children and full-size bows for those who want to realise their childhood dreams of becoming a budding Robin Hood. We’re sure you will enjoy the fresh air, exercise and companionship.

Dates for 2013 are as follows:

  • 20 January
  • 17 February
  • 31 March (the Palm Sunday event is the previous weekend)
  • 21 April
  • 19 May
  • 16 June
  • 14 July
  • 18 August
  • 22 September (The annual
social shoot hosted by the Palm Sunday Archers)
  • 20 October (When we will be hosting the visit by the Richard III society)
  • 17 November
  • 15 December

These will take place at the Crooked Billet, Saxton, unless otherwise notified and are, as
ever, dependant on the weather.
For regular members, I will send a reminder via e-mail before each
date and would appreciate a reply stating if you will be attending and whether
you require sustenance; with that I can notify the Crooked Billet with regard to
numbers for lunch.
